Welcome to Class 3's page!
Mrs Preston and Mrs Power would like to welcome you to class 3!
We will be working hard to make your children feel safe and happy in their classroom, whilst giving them lots of opportunities to learn new and exciting subjects!
In this first half term we will be covering The Stone age in History and this will link to our Art topic where we will be looking at simple sketches, much like the cave drawings from prehistoric times. In Science we are learning about rocks which will include a closer look at how rocks and fossils are formed. Other lessons, aside from the core subjects will include music, French and computing. We have lots of great lessons instore for the next few weeks!
Photos from lessons, activites and events will be posted here throughout the year...watch this space!
At St. Peter's we use White Rose Maths for our maths curriculum.
"Together, we’re building a whole new culture of deep understanding, confidence and competence in maths – a culture that produces strong, secure learning and real progress. No matter what their starting points, we help teachers and learners everywhere to achieve excellence."
This half term will start with number and place value.
This is the R.E overview for year 3. Please familiarise yourself with what we will be learning...
At St. Peter's we use Talk for Writing. The Talk for Writing approach enables children to read and write independently for a variety of audiences and purposes within different subjects. A key feature is that children internalise the language structures needed to write through ‘talking the text’ as well as close reading. The approach moves from dependence towards independence with the teacher using shared and guided teaching to develop the ability in children to write creatively and powerfully.
Schools underpin their English work by establishing a core reading spine of quality fiction, poetry and non-fiction that all children experience and draw upon.
In our classroom, you will see lots of our learning on the 'washing line' and working walls.
In Year 3 we focus on the following topics:
Animals including Humans
Forces and Magnets
We will ensure that each child has their own login for the platforms mentioned above, along with Google Chrome. If you have any problems, please message us through Dojo and we will try to help.
