Class 3

Welcome to Class 3's page!

Mrs Fincham, Miss Loveitt, Mrs Clayton, Mrs West and Mrs Young would like to welcome you to class 3! We have lots of exciting things planned for this year including a visit to the zoo and a visit from a real live cave man! If you would like to contact us or discuss any issues concerning your child's learning, please let us know!

This term we will be learning about ;

Predators !!

We will be looking at different diets of different animals including humans and how this affects how they are built and where they live. We will also be looking at food chains and classifying different types of animals using webs. A visit to Twycross Zoo is also being planned to enhance our learning!

Please have a look at our knowledge organiser below for specific vocab and areas of learning your child will be looking at.

Important information:

  • PE- We are looking at gymnastics and invasion games this term. PE will take place on Tuesday and Fridays. Please make sure your child has an indoor and outdoor kit.
  • Homework- Homework consists of a  maths activity, weekly spellings and reading to an adult at least 3 times a week. We would also like your child to practise mental maths at home using the J2blast online game or by completing any other additional maths work given to them when appropriate.
  • Reading should be taking place as much as possible and recorded in your child's reading record book.
  • Spelling lists will also be sent home in your child's homework book to practise. The look, cover, write, check approach is a good strategy to embed spellings. Please complete the spelling grid and practice at least 3 times a week. Spelling test will be each Friday.
  • Maths tasks will be sent home (inside their homework book) alongside the spelling. This will follow on from what your child has been learning in the classroom and your support with these will benefit your child greatly.
  • Vocabulary - we are working hard on enhancing vocabulary across the school this year. Your child will be bringing home a knowledge organiser with key vocabulary linked to our topic on it. Please stick this up in a visible place at home and discuss with your child where ever possible.
  • Homework is due in on Wednesdays and will be checked weekly. Your child will be rewarded for completing all elements of their homework.

We are happy to answer any questions you may have either by email, or in the playground.

Thanks again for your support!
